Drew Nucci is a Research Associate in the Math Area of WestEd. His research focuses primarily on secondary mathematics curriculum and instruction as he investigates how teachers use tools to create opportunities for student collaboration and discourse. Chief among those tools is generative AI. Drew researches how teachers think about, learn about, and use GenAI tools for improving their teaching. He brings 18 years of experience teaching secondary mathematics and substantial experience in teacher education for pre-service teachers. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, an M.A. in Western Classical Philosophy from St. John’s College, and a PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Washington.
