Kirk Walters is the Senior Managing Director of the Mathematics and Improvement Science content areas at WestEd. He leads a team of experienced researchers, curriculum developers, and technical assistance providers working to improve math outcomes for underserved communities. His projects use a range of methods and approaches to develop and evaluate math interventions, including technology-based math curricula for middle and high school algebra students, intensive teacher professional development programs, and instructionally-focused improvement networks. Walters spent a decade as an urban middle and high school math teacher before earning a PhD in Social Foundations of Education from the University of Maryland.
