Adrian Zhañay

NYC MS 50 (John D. Wells)

AAdrian Zhañay is a bilingual STEM special education teacher at MS 50 (John D. Wells) in Williamsburg, New York. With over eight years of experience in special education, he is dedicated to creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. He holds a Master’s degree in Education from City College and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics from John Jay College. Adrian is also currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at The City College of New York to further strengthen his ability to lead and inspire educational communities.

He specializes in teaching science and mathematics, supporting both self-contained and ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) math classes. His teaching emphasizes hands-on, interactive learning experiences that make complex concepts accessible and meaningful for all learners. In addition to his classroom work, Adrian leads an after-school streetwear design program, where students explore creativity through fashion, customization, and entrepreneurship.

Beyond academics, Adrian coaches the middle school soccer team, promoting teamwork, leadership, and community among his students. He is also an active athlete who enjoys playing soccer and swimming, and during the summer, he serves as a lifeguard for New York City. His passion for education, leadership, athletics, and creative expression reflects his belief in developing the whole student academically, socially, and personally.
