What are we building?

  • A Canvas-native implementation of the Illustrative Math middle school curriculum employing the OER Curriculum Loader technology from Chan-Zuckerburg Institute

  • Modules within Canvas that:

    • Align instructional content to K–12 standards

    • Expand assessment capabilities

    • Foster MEP (Motivation, Engagement, and Persistence) and increased math achievement especially among priority students as teachers leverage Canvas native tools to provide students with opportunities for collaboration and feedback

  • Infrastructure improvements to reduce the cost, time, and human effort needed for research and data collection

  • An evolving research portal to support long-term R&D work

What are we learning?

  • How Canvas-based delivery of high-quality instructional materials such as Illustrative Math impacts:

    • Teacher efficacy

    • Student engagement, motivation, and persistence (MEP)

    • Student math achievement

  • How to increase research efficiency and rigor through embedded infrastructure

  • How to align platform delivery with previously tested core math materials
