What are we building?

The UF Lastinger Center for Learning is scaling capacity to understand how digital learning platforms can be catalysts for mathematics teacher and student motivation, engagement and persistence through the Data Lagoon web portal. In this phase, we are participating in the EduData competition to fund research projects utilizing data within the Data Lagoon to facilitate research and development around teacher and student learning.

What are we learning?

  • How engagement patterns and learning pathways are related to learner progress, risk of attrition, and learning outcomes

  • How mathematics teachers’ characteristics, course sentiments and patterns of engagement are related to learning outcomes

  • How knowledge tracing models can be used to predict content and pedagogical learning outcomes

  • How patterns of engagement are related to mathematics teachers’ increased motivation to teach mathematics.

Data Lagoon web portal which includes district dashboards and de-identified data for research.
