What are we building?
BranchED and Mursion are partnering to build the first generative AI–driven teaching simulator designed for purposeful practice in educator preparation. This new platform integrates Generative AI, mixed reality, and inclusive research and design to create scalable, authentic, and culturally responsive virtual classrooms where aspiring teachers can safely practice instructional strategies before entering live classrooms.
What are we learning?
Through this work, the team is exploring how Generative AI can simulate real classroom dynamics, including student dialogue, engagement, and diversity of learning needs, while maintaining authenticity, accuracy, and fairness. BranchED and Mursion are also studying how educators experience and benefit from low-risk, high-impact virtual practice and how AI-powered feedback can enhance teacher growth, confidence, and instructional skill.
Products
A Generative AI Teaching Simulator with integrated feedback and coaching tools. The simulator features multi-student virtual classrooms and realistic student and adult avatars, offering immersive practice scenarios that develop core teaching skills such as eliciting student thinking, de-escalation, and coaching novice teachers.
