What are we building?

By leveraging ST Math’s mastery-driven game mechanics—already a leader in student engagement—we’re using real-time platform data to both measure and strengthen students’ motivation, engagement, and persistence (MEP), creating an even more impactful learning experience. Our co-design approach ensures that new features and teacher supports are grounded in classroom realities and responsive to student needs. The BMW team is also developing dynamic, platform-based MEP metrics to identify areas where motivation support is needed and to validate enhancements to the student learning journey. Through Rapid Cycle Evaluation, we’re continuously testing and refining these features to ensure they are equitable, effective, and classroom-ready.

What are we learning?

  • How program and teacher interactions impact MEP

  • How to refine features using student feedback and data

  • How MEP may link feature use to learning outcomes

  • How inclusive, closed-loop evaluation supports smarter, faster decisions

  • How core ST Math elements (visual reasoning, mastery, no language) shape learning

Products

  • Enhanced ST Math dashboard with live MEP data

  • Co-designed student and teacher interaction tools

  • Iterated features based on student input

  • Adaptable RCE protocols for ongoing testing and improvement

  • Research insights on how features influence MEP and learning
