What are we building?

Embedded features within Teach to One Roadmaps, a personalized learning math program, including thin-sliced practice progressions that are coherent, connected, and keep students in a state of flow, and features that help students explore and develop a sense of purpose for doing math.

What are we learning?

  • Academic research suggests that students are responsive to self-transcendent, large-scoped missions and causes where they find a sense of belonging

  • Students care a lot about problem difficulty. In early prototypes, students always comment on the difficulty of the problems whether they are too easy or too hard.

  • Content-specificity matters.

  • Clear structure to the learning experience is necessary so students know what they are supposed to do, if they are doing it, when they are "done", and how close they are to being done.

Products

  • Templates for practice problems and progressions within and between skills

  • Adaptive logic to maintain student flow/ZPD
