Purpose/Abstract

This report addresses challenges in measuring student motivation to engage with and persist on math tasks.

The authors integrated existing measures and piloted these instruments across two diverse samples to construct 10 reliable scales of individual differences in math motivation.

The report presents the scales to invite discussion about validity, future use, potential additional motivational measures to consider, and applications in schools.
